Playground:
Evaluation Criteria:
*Kid safe
*Visually stimulating
*Team building
The playground will be set up in several sections with towers, ramps, castles and fortresses. Each section will be set up with a castle in the furthest corner from the center with different roads, bridges and towers acting as a “defense” as you get closer to the middle. The future concept will be used in this venue as all the structures will be inlaid with a light emitting substance to declare what “team” owns it. There are four teams, and the goal is for one team to take over the whole playground and the game to start over again. If one team looses all of their “turf” then they will be added to another team and they start defending that color. The kids will wear tshirts that change color based on what team they are on.
Water cannons and nurf ball guns will be stationed through the area for kids to battle with, and the goal will be to take all of the flags stationed in the towers to the main castle. Once a flag has been removed from a tower the water cannons and nurf guns will stop working. When the entire field has been captured the buildings will fluctuate in color between all the four teams and people will re-distributed out and the game starts again. The overall goal is that there will be about ten games run a day from sun up to sun down.
For younger kids there will be a section off to the side with foam covered mini replicas of the larger playground. Small kids always want to be like the big kids, so they will have their chance to play around on the foam towers and castles, along with slids and ball pits. While there is no real future technology in this area it will still be a safe place for small kids to go without a ton of bigger kids running around at high speeds ready to knock into a 5 year old and send him crashing to the ground.
