Retailtainment:

*Push a product
*Be a fun place
*Make people want to come back, and buy stuff again.

The retailtainment center is an area where people can come in, and scan themselves and their family into a video game. The people can come in and make themselves the characters in any type of game they want. They will be able to pick between the different types, such as RPG, FPS … ect. Also they will be able to choose the style of game, is it a platform based game? 3d or 2d? Sandbox games are very popular now, and this creates quite an intresting dynamic for generated content. Much like the game spore, people will be able to set up their own types of buildings to use in the games at kiosks around the store. It will be set up much like a build-a-bear but for video games.

When a person chooses the FPS style game there are several options that are brought up for them to use. There first choice is the style of FPS they will be creating, is it team based or is it a single person only? The team based FPS games will all be able to connect online to eachother, the code uses the same refrenses for models and textures for the different people however the textures and models will be different. So the code will point to a file that is different for every person's game. This will make it so that everyones game will work together, yet everyone will be using the same models as you on your screen. The second option is the choice of ammunition and guns, are you using super powered rifles and rocket launchers or nurf guns and marshmellow launchers? All of the options keep gameplay fundamentally the same, things just look different. Unfortunately this works as a fairly good system for FPS games because essentially that is all they are, different skins on a basic concept.

When choosing a RPG style game the people get a few more options. Is this game free roaming like oblivion or guided like mario? Beyond being able to customize your people like all the games this option gives your specific quest customization. Maybe your family has a feud with the family across the street, the end boss may be that person. You will be able to also customize your buildings just like in the FPS, alogn with several opening sequence dialogs and cinimatics.

The last type of game that you can pick is a racing game. Customize the roads of the game and make a need for speed style game where you get to race through a city that looks like your own. Who doesn't want to race through their own neighborhood, but with this game you can not only race through your neighborhood but any one you create. Or choose your family cars from the database and use the same simulation technology Gran Turismo uses to create a driving training game for your teenager with the car he will actually be using. While this wont be a replacement for real driving school it will help kids get a handle on what real cars act like, rather than the race cars they see in video games.
